God of All the Earth: Overflowing Mercy in the Ministry of Jonah

The story of the runaway prophet teaches us a lot about the character and nature of God. He is sovereign over all creation. He corrects the wayward sinner. He loves pagan nations. "Salvation belongs to the Lord," the "God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land" (Jonah 2:9; 1:9). Our God is "a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster" (Jonah 4:2).
