Faith Family: Formed by the Gospel
January 5, 2020 Preacher: Andrew White Series: Faith Family
Scripture: Ephesians 2:11–22
This is part one of a two-part series called "Faith Family," where we take a look at the importance and function of the local church.
In Christ, God has reconciled believers to Himself. We experience a vertical reconciliation, where we are made right with God, and a horizontal reconciliation, where we are made right with each other. In Ephesians 2, Paul addresses a vicious rivalry between the Jews and Gentiles. He argues that the wall of hostility between them has been destroyed in the body of Christ. We are now one new man, part of God's household and building, which is built on the foundation of the Scriptures with Jesus as the cornerstone.
