How to Have Joy When Life Is Hard

June 20, 2021 Preacher: Jake Grogan Series: The Real Thing: New Covenant Wisdom in James

Scripture: James 1:1–18

This is the first sermon in our series through the book of James. In this book, James offers us practical wisdom for life in the faith. In the opening text, he gives advice on facing trials and temptations of different kinds. His advice is counter-cultural, but valuable. In this sermon, Pastor Jake gives us six realities to hold on to when we face difficult trials in life.

You Can Have Joy When Life Is Hard . . .
I. If You Understand the Value of Trials (vv. 1–4)
II. If You Go to the Right Person for Wisdom (vv. 5–8)
III. If You Embrace the Upside-Down Values of the Kingdom of God (vv. 9–11)
IV. If You Take Personal Responsibility (vv. 12–15)
V. If You Remember Who Your Father Is (vv. 16–18)
