Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
- Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
The mission of Indian Creek Baptist Church is the same as every Christian church that's ever existed: Our Savior tells us to make disciples. In other words, the goal we've been given is to encourage ourselves and others to take the first step--and then the next step--in following Jesus.
In order to fulfill this mission, God has equipped us with a life-transforming message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which enables us to fulfill our mission when we do three things:
We Remember
Because of the work of Jesus, those who believe on him are given a new identity as beloved sons and daughters of the King of the Universe. But we have a tendency to forget these truths. That's why one of our main goals as a church is to constantly remember and remind one another of the central message of Scripture, the wonderful news that the Son of God defeated death when he laid down his life and rose again.
It's our belief that the more we remember the truths of the gospel, the more equipped we will be to follow Christ and fulfill our mission as a church (see 2 Peter 1:3-15).
We Repeat
The word of God has the power to bring those who are spiritually dead to life (cf. Ezekiel 37). Mindful that the Gospel message is the power of God to rescue sinners (Romans 1:15), and grateful that we ourselves were given new life when someone was faithful to share the good news with us, we aim to constantly, accurately, and winsomely repeat the same message to anyone who will listen.
If you're not a follower of Jesus, our prayer is that you don't go another day without hearing what God has done for each of us and calling out to him for forgiveness and rescue. Let us show you how you can be right with God today!
We Rejoice
In God's glorious presence, "there is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11). We're built to see and appreciate the beauty of God, and through the gospel, we're being restored to that original design (2 Corinthians 3:18). There is no greater joy than knowing Christ, and our desire is that all people living in Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County come to experience that joy.
Are you able to rejoice, even when life is difficult and circumstances disappoint? Our prayer is that you come to see the goodness of God in the work of Jesus and truly experience the peace and wholeness he made for you to find in him.
